What channels can I use to find job offers?

Barcelona Activa has an online job centre, the Business-Employment Platform, but you can also search for job offers on the websites of professional associations, guilds, general portals such as Infofeina, Infojobs and Feina activa, and sector-specific portals.

How does the Business-Employment Platform work?

The Business-Employment Platform is an online job centre where Barcelona Activa acts as an intermediary between the job offers that come from different companies and candidates that might fit the profiles those companies are asking for. You can also sign up for the offers you are most interested in.

Where can I find out about the recruitment events that Barcelona Activa organises with Barcelona companies?

Who can advise me on workers’ rights at Barcelona Activa?

Barcelona Activa has a service of Defence Points for Employment Rights for workers. This is a free service provided by employment lawyers offering personalised advice. You can book an appointment in advance for advice in person or by phone by calling 900 533 175.

Which sectors are expected to have the most demand for workers in the medium term?

In the medium term, it is expected that sectors such as the digital economy, marketing or e-commerce will need significant numbers of workers. You can consult the characteristics of sectors with a futuretrain to find work in sectors with a demand for labour and train at the Cibernàrium to improve your tech skills.



Self-employed

How can I register for the social security’s self-employed scheme?

At Barcelona Activa, we will tell you how to register as a self-employed through an online course. You will need your NIF (Tax ID) or NIE (National ID), bank account number and social security number.

What is the procedure for capitalising unemployment benefit?

Generally speaking, you need a financial base to start your own business. A common way to get this initial budget is to capitalise your unemployment benefit, in other words, ask for it in a lump sum. On the Entrepreneurial Barcelona website, you will find an online course that tells you how to do that.

What grants and subsidies are there for self-employed people in the context of Covid-19?

Anyone whose business folds or who has seen their income cut by 75% compared to the monthly average for the previous six months will be eligible for a benefit of 70% of their social security contributions for one month. This central government measure can be supplemented by the Autòno+ Barcelona grant of €300, offered by Barcelona City Council.
